SRINAGAR: Showket’s all-round performance helped Kashmir Knights to defeat Friends XI Tangmarg by 33 runs in the ongoing Super Cup played at Palhallan.
Bating first after winning the toss Kashmir Knights opted to bat first, and they put a formidable total of 139 runs on the board. Middle order batsman Showket Ahmad with 52 was the main contributor to the scoreboard, down the order John Mohammad played a came by scoring quick-fire 15 and provided much needed impetus to the scoreboard.
For FCC Kunzer medium pacer Gulzar Ahmad was the successful bowler claiming three wicket haul in his allotted four over spell.
In reply FCC Tangmarg was never in the hunt as they lost quick wickets and the entire team was shunted out for 105 runs, in which Riyaz Ahmad (30) and Gulzar Ahmad scored 11 runs. Barring them none of the FCC batsmen was not able to produce a decent show with the willow.
For KK Zahid Ahmad was destroyer in chief claiming four wicket haul, Abid and Showket bagged two wickets each.
Showket Bhat for his all-round performance was declared man of the match.
