Shopian: An army team conducting area domination practice came under fire from suspected militants at Chek-e-Choland village of Shopian district on Wednesday.
The incident took place at about 2:30 PM and created panic in the area. There were reports of injury or damage to property in the incident. A police officer said that nobody was injured in the attack.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that militants fired upon the army from orchards and then fled the spot.
Villagers said they heard about 15 gunshots coming from the side of the orchards.
They added that soon after the attack, more government forces were rushed to the area and they cordoned off the area in a bid to nab the militants.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian, Sandeep Choudary, told Kashmir Reader that police had not received any official report from the army over the attack.
