Basic Urdu course for jail inmates in Kathua

KATHUA: District Jail Kathua has started teaching Urdu language through Computer Based Functional Learning (CBFL) program of Tata Consultancy Services in its adult education programme for jail inmates.
CBFL uses animated graphics and voiceover combined to explain individual alphabets to give structures and meaning to various words. The method makes use of computer which delivers the lessons in multimedia form to the learners which is supplemented by reference text-book of National Literacy Mission.
It was also given out that Superintendent Jail and two staff members underwent training from Tata Consultancy Services for operating the program named ‘Hamari Urdu’. Through this programme, learners will be able to learn basic Urdu in 40 days/50 hours which includes reading, writing and basic arithmetic.
Later on, Computer Based Functional Learning (CBFL) technique will be adopted in teaching other languages like Hindi, Dogri and Kashmiri.
