3-day workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ concludes at JKEDI

Pampore: Three-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute in collaboration with Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) on Wednesday concluded here.
According to a statement issued here, the workshop themed ‘Intellectual Property Rights – Fostering Innovation Ecosystem in J&K’ was aimed to create awareness about the importance of IPRs and other related initiatives of the Government of India (GoI) in this direction.
The workshop was held at JKEDI Pampore campus from July 30 to August 01, 2018.
CIPAM is a professional body under the aegis of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industries, GoI.
Four technical sessions were conducted during the three-day workshop apart from various sessions on different aspects of IP registration, government initiatives: IPR regime and CIPAM, fostering ecosystem of IPR in J&K and session on IPR Cells and Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs).
The programme was attended by faculty members of various universities and colleges of Kashmir region including University of Kashmir, National Institute of Technology, Central University of Kashmir, Islamic University of Science and Technology, SSM College of Engineering and Technology, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir, Government College for Women, Nawakadal and faculty of JKEDI.
Speaking on the occasion, Director JKEDI, Dr M I Parray applauded the efforts of the CIPAM and its members for creating the learning platform for faculty and the researchers. He also applauded the participants for showing keen interest in the subject.
“In J&K we don’t have ample employment options and JKEDI is an institution trying to create an ecosystem for entrepreneurship development and a means for youth to earn dignified livelihood,” Dr Parray said. He shared that at JKEDI efforts are concentrated towards making JKEDI a household name in the whole state. He informed the gathering that JKEDI has full support of the J&K government.
“JKEDI is the place wherefrom youth expect a lot and the Institute is determined to work hard towards fostering entrepreneurship culture in the state,” Dr Parray further said.
