Punjab driver held with poppy in Budgam

Srinagar, August 1: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam district of central Kashmir.

Balvinder Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab was arrested after  approximately 4 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from his truck during routine checking  of vehicles, a police spokesman said.

The truck was also seized by the policemen.

“A case FIR No 76/2018 under section 08/15 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Chadoora and  investigation taken up,” the spokesman added.
