Palanpur: A Pakistani national was apprehended by the Gujarat police after he crossed over to the Indian side of the international border near Vav in Banaskantha district.
The man, who identified himself as Kohara Bhil (24) crossed over near pillar number 995 on the border and walked some 20 km into India last evening, sub-inspector H I Bhati of Vav police station today said.
On reaching a temple in a village near the border, he asked for water. The local people grew suspicious and alerted the police who detained him, Bhati said.
Bhil told police that he lived in Badin district of Sindh province of Pakistan, and his purpose in crossing the border was to find a job in India.
Police recovered a mobile phone, a voter ID of his mother and a photocopy of his identity card from him. Further probe was on, Bhati said. PTI
