DC Kishtwar stresses on maintaining hygienic condition in mutton shops

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana on Tuesday asked the civic authorities to conduct regular checking of mutton selling establishments and ask the owners to maintain hygienic conditions in their shops.
The DC, at joint meeting with the mutton traders, asked the civic authorities and animal husbandry officials to monitor and report him about the progress on this count on weekly basis.
The shop owners were asked to use electronic scales and install refrigerators and glass boxes to keep the mutton in hygienic condition.
Meanwhile, reviewing the functioning of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department, the DC directed its senior functionaries to start operationalisation of local hatchery within 10 days.
The DC asked the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department officials to act as facilitators for the sale and marketing of sheep and goat reared in the far flung areas of the district. He said that during his recent visit to Dachan, local rearers informed him that they get little opportunity to sell their produce.
The DC instructed District Sheep Husbandry Officer to facilitate in the process so that local economy is invigorated and farmers may not leave their traditional vocation of rearing livestock which is back bone of rural economy.
