SRINAGAR: With government forces surrounding old Barazulla area of Srinagar, the body of slain militant Mudasir Ahmad Bhat reached his home on Tuesday evening.
Mudasir’s body had been buried near the Line of Control (LoC) in NK Gali area of Jumgund forests after the army claimed to have killed him in a gunfight in Trehgam area of Kupwara on June 29.
Mudasir had left his home in Barzulla Srinagar in December 2016, according to his family sources.
The body of Mudasir was exhumed after the DNA of his father, Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, matched with that of Mudasir, official sources said.
Government forces had imposed strict restrictions in old Barzulla before the body of the slain militant was to arrive in the area.
Local sources said that government forces had closed all entry and exit points of old Barzulla and were not allowing anybody to move towards the area.
Ilyas Ahmad Bhat, brother of Mudasir, told Kashmir Reader, “We will properly bury the body of my brother as soon as possible. We did not want law and order to be disturbed in the area.”
