Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on Tuesday sent a 3-member team to New Delhi to file an intervention application in the Supreme Court, ahead of the hearing on Article 35A listed for August 6.
Sources told Kashmir Reader that after convening a general body meeting, the HCBA formed a three-member team of senior members of the Bar to file the intervention application.
“The meeting deliberated upon the issue and decided that as a vibrant institution it has a responsibility to intervene for and on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” the sources said.
The team consists of former Secretary General of the HCBA and current executive member Muhammad Ashraf Bhat, the current Secretary General GM Shaheen, and Joint Secretary Adil Asimi.
Sources said that the Bar has taken the case very seriously and has decided to defend Article 35A at all costs.
They said that by virtue of the “intervention application”, the Bar will be able to defend the case as a party to it.
