Srinagar: Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) on Monday said that it has registered a corruption case against then Executive Officer Municipal Committee Shopian and other officials.
A statement said that case was registered under Prevention of Corruption Act on outcome of a verification conducted into the allegations that that the then Executive Officer Municipal Committee Shopian in furtherance of criminal conspiracy hatched with other officials of Municipal Committee Shopian in connivance with the accused beneficiaries have illegally/fraudulently, without any competence, appointed/engaged 04 non deserving, blue eyed persons in Municipal Committee Shopian in the year 2009 & 2010.
“The then President Municipal Committee Shopian Majid Hassan Khan son of Ghulam Hassan Khan Resident of Hergam Shopian and the then Executive Officer of Municipal Committee Shopian Mohamed Ashraf Pandith (now expired) son of Abdul Aziz Pandith resident of Bemina Srinagar in utter disregarded to the standing rules/notifications/SROs of Govt. and without any competence issued appointment orders in favour of 4 blue eyed persons,” statement reads.
The candidates were identified as Abdul Majeed Bhat son of late Sonaullah Bhat resident of Batwina Lar Gandarbal as Electrician, Umaya Jahangir Khan daughter of Jahangir Ahmad Khan resident of Shopian as Death & Birth Assistant, Javed Ahmad Wani son of Ab Gani Wani resident of Bongam Shopian as Khilafwarzi Helper and Shariq Ahmad Sofi son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi resident of Shopian as Khilafwarzi Helper.
The statement said that FIR No. 28/2018 under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act, Svt; 2006 and Section 120-B RPC was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir against accused persons. The investigation of the case is going on.
