Srinagar: The body of a Srinagar militant killed in north Kashmir on June 29 was handed over to his legal heirs on Tuesday after it was exhumed from near the Line of Control (LoC), sources said.
Earlier, the body of Mudassir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Barzulla Srinagar was exhumed after his father’s DNS matched with Mudassir, official sources said.
Mudasir was killed in Kupwara district during a gunfight on June 29 this year.
Mudasir had left his home in December 2016 according to his family sources but had not returned. Later government forces claimed they killed him during a gunfight near LoC.
Mudasir’s family sources confirmed that they have received the body.
They said that proper burial of Mudassir will take place soon after they reach back to Barzulla.
