SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference has condemned the fresh wave of mass frisking across valley, terming it as a fresh move to instill fear among masses ahead of August 15.
A spokesperson of the amalgam in a statement said, “It is height of repression that now forces are checking the mobile phones of youth, SIM cards, phone gallery and laptops, which is the worst form of oppression and in case any pro-freedom content is found, mobile phones are broken. This exhibits state intolerance and Goonda raj.”
He said in run up to the August 15, entire Kashmir is witnessing huge deployment of forces in every village and street which reflects the intention of the rulers that they want to convert entire valley into military garrison a fortnight before by putting entire population to big harassment and trouble.
“Once again, hundreds of bunkers, barricades and watchtowers have been set up across Kashmir which is a great cause of concern,” he said.
“Such ploys were tested in the past but failed to break the resolve of freedom loving people of Kashmir. The repressive moves can force neither the people nor the resistance leadership into submission,” he said.
The spokesperson urged the international community to “take strong note of the repression being unleashed by lakhs of Indian forces in Kashmir and play role in stopping it forthwith”.
