GANDERBAL: Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Ganderbal, SKUAST-K on Monday organised a day-long workshop on ‘Horti-Poultry Model’ in which heads of Divisions from Faculty of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K, scientists from different KVKs, officers of the development department, women self-help groups, progressive livestock farmers and farmwomen from across Ganderbal district participated and deliberated upon this newly introduced innovative model.

Scientist (Animal Science), KVK-Ganderbal, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Reshi presented a detailed account of the model, its history of establishment, advantages, economics and other technicalities and answering queries raised by the participants, an official handout read.
First of its kind, the innovative model (Horti-Poultry Model) being standardised at KVK-Ganderbal under the technical guidance of Division of Livestock Production Management (LPM), SKUAST-K was thoroughly discussed by the officers, scientists and the farmers.
Appreciating KVK for organising the workshop, Director Extension, Prof Mushtaq Ahmed invited all the stakeholders to discuss the newly introduced model. He impressed upon scientists to double their efforts in taking innovative technologies to farmers’ field, read the handout.
Director, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-ATARI, Zone-I, Prof Rajbir Singh said that this was the model that could be exercised at large for doubling the farmers’ income, adding the model developed at KVK-Ganderbal would be replicated across India for enhancing the farmers’ income, it read.
