Srinagar: All Jammu and Kashmir Home Guard Welfare Association (HGWA) on Monday staged a massive protest demonstration here in Pratap Park demanding regularization of their services.
The protesters demanded regularisation of Jammu and Kashmir home guards at par with other states.
State President HGWA, Kamla Sharma while talking to Kashmir Reader said that, “We are serving the same way as JKP does, but still we are being neglected and we want our duties for all 30days of the month rather than 15 days,” she said.
“We demand regularisation like the earlier home guards were regularized in 1989, we have been serving the state from last 25 years,” she added.
The protesters claimed that they are being considered just for 150 days of year and are paid merely according. They accused the state government of step-motherly treatment with them by paying them the meager salary.
They said that they had fought for the genuine rights of the Home Guards in the Supreme Court of India where a judgment was issued in their favour on March 3, 2015 according to which the Home Guards should be absorbed as the regular constables.
“We are nearly 4500 home guards in the state what work are we supposed to do for rest 15 days of the month, we demand immediate regularization by the State government,” said one of the protesters.
The protesters said that most of the states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, M.P, U.P, Goa had implemented the supreme Court judgment. We appeal to Governor NN Vohra to intervene in this issue so as our demand is met.
