SRINAGAR: Director SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, Dr Omar Javaid Shah has ordered an inquiry into a scuffle involving doctors and an attendant.
According to officials, the scuffle broke out late Saturday evening between an attendant from Rajouri area of Jammu division and doctors in the Emergency unit’s Radio-diagnostic Department when the person ‘shouted’ at an on-duty doctor.
The attendant was forcing the doctors to attend his patient on priority for CT scan which they refused.
“Doctors refused to accept the attendant’s demand as many critical patients were already waiting for their turn for a long time. This infuriated him and he started abusing the doctors which lead to a scuffle,” an employee told Kashmir Reader.
Security guards of the hospital were also called in to pacify the situation, he said.
Later, doctors filed a complaint at Soura police station against the attendant which prompted the Director SKIMS to order an inquiry into the incident to bring facts to the surface.
“We have forwarded the doctors’ complaint to police station Soura for filling of FIR against the attendant. However, to bring the facts to surface an internal inquiry has been ordered by the Director,” Medical Superintendent, Dr Farooq A Jan told Kashmir Reader.
