SRINAGAR: A veterinary camp was organised by 115 Inf Bn (TA) MAHAR at Sonamarg on Saturday under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
An official statement issued here said the main aim of the camp was to cater to the livestock’s healthcare requirement of the floating population migrating annually from Poonch/ Rajouri.
Free medical treatment was provided to the livestock by veterinary doctors from army and civil administration, it said.
Approximately 1400 animals were treated during the camp by four veterinary doctors at Sonamarg, the statement said adding that army has been consistently engaging in the welfare of the Bakkarwal and Gujjar community by organising veterinary camps for their livestock.
The camp generated a positive response from locals, Gujjars and Bakkarwals, who wholeheartedly appreciated the noble initiative by the army, the statement said.
