SRINAGAR: Residents of Alamdar colony of Ellahi Bagh Buchpora area of Srinagar are up in arms against the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department for failing to construct the road.
They said that the road of Alamdar colony Ellahi Bagh which connects Zakura, Dangerpora and Hazratbal areas is in worst condition due to the inattention of the R&B Department.
The residents said due to the potholes and bumpy road, they are are facing hardships.
President of Alamdar colony of Ellahi Bagh Buchpora Farooq Ahmad, said, “School children and shopkeepers are particularly facing lot of difficulties due to the bad condition of the road. The R&B department is doing nothing to repair the road,”
“Due to potholes vehicles suffer damages. The dilapidated condition of the road poses risk of accidents,” he added.
He said that “from last 35 years the road of the colony has not been macadamised by the Department.”
Naseer Ahmad Rather, one of the local residents of the Alamdar colony said that in year 2017 2 kilometres of Magadamization for the road was approved but so far no work has been started on the ground.”
“If the tender of the road has already been approved by the department, why R&B dept has yet to start the work,” Naseer questioned.
The local said that after rains and snowfall the road turns into cesspool.
Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Sami Arif told Kashmir Reader, “If there is any possibility, we will start the work in the area.”
