Srinagar: Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Thursday shrugged off the pleas of some causal labourers of the Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) by telling that to seek the salary from “politicians who appointed them”. However, when the causal labourers showed appointed and transfer orders issued by the department, he blamed Director AHD for betraying them into jobs.
At an inaugural ceremony of a laboratory of the department in Bandipora, Samoon was asked by media men as to “why 82 casual employees of the department were without wages for last five years”.
Samoon said the politicians “should pay these casual labourers from their own pocket, who have appointed them illegally by taking bribes.”
“And if there are genuine labourers and the Director here with me owns them I will take their responsibility and take the issue with the Governor, but I tell you we haven’t appointed any such labourer. It is a misconception, all the departments which are grappling, is because of all these illegal and backdoor appointments facilitated by the politicians and thus ruining the departments”.
After being declared illegal, the casual labourer present there came up with appointment and transfer orders from the Director.
Though an attempt was made to conceal the orders from media, Samoon simply shrugged off by telling the Director M Y Chaproo, who was accompanying him, that “you have betrayed them.”
The aggrieved casual labourers said that the government “has ruined our five years, for these five years the department made us work without wages, we could have studied further and run for some other job, but now we have nothing to as time has gone out of hand.”
“If we are illegal appointees then how did department bring orders for our transfer, even our first appointment order has been issued by the Director, who remained as a mute spectator in front of Principal Secretary” one of the labourers said.
