5 youth arrested during night raids in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Srinagar, July 27: Government forces arrested five youth during nocturnal raids at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Around midnight, government forces appeared in Dreed Kalipora and rounded up five youth from their houses, locals told Kashmir Reader Friday. All the youth, they said were arersted without any reason or rhyme.

The locals identified the arrested youth as Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir, Jahangir Ahmad Mir, Rayees Ahmad Mir, Javid Ahmad Malik and Saleem Yousuf Bhat.

“When a delegation of locals were heading towards Deputy Commissioner’s office, today, police interecpted them at ImamSahib ad detained another person Nasir Bashir Thoker,” a local, wishing not to be named told Kashmir Reader.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian, Sandeep Choudary refused to comment on the arrests. However, he said that police will soon issue a press release in this regard
