Ganderbal: A family seven escaped miraculously after a huge walnut tree fell on their residential house at Gund village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday evening.
Reports said that the a walnut tree came crashing down on the residential house of Javid Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik of Gund when all the seven family members were present inside the Kitchen adjacent to their two storey house.
Yasir Ahmad Malik, a close neighbour of Javid told Kashmir Reader that they heard a big bang and when they came out; they saw a walnut tree had fallen on their neighbor’s home.
The family members had a miraculous escape, he added.
SHO Police Station Gund Syed Arif Bukhari confirmed the incident said that the all the inmates were safe
Locals in the area told Kashmir Reader that the a large number of old and decaying walnut trees located close to residential houses are posing a serious threat to their life and property.
They appealed Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Kangan to direct concerned officials to cut off such types of trees from the area.
When contacted SDM Kangan Mehrej u Din Shah told Kashmir Reader that the ”If people anywhere feel the old and decaying walnut trees close to residential houses in Kangan pose a serious threat to life, livestock and other property, they have immediately report with written complaint to concerned Tehsildar. ”
