Srinagar: Authorities on Tuesday evening issued a weather warning for fairly widespread rain during the next 24 hours in the Kashmir valley, while directing people not to venture in avalanche prone areas.
An official spokesman said that according to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, fairly widespread rain or thundershowers are expected in Kashmir Division on July 24 to 25.
He said the concerned Deputy Commissioners have been asked to watch out the jurisdiction and advised people not to venture in avalanche prone areas during these days.
Further, the Deputy Commissioners have been asked to take all precautionary measures and to keep the SDRF, police and para-medical staff with ambulances in readiness to meet any situation.
Due to cloud burst and heavy rain at several places in the valley, including Srinagar outskirts, water level in many water bodies witnessed increase during the past 24 hours.
