Trehgam killing: Inquiry officer asks witnesses to record statements

Handwara: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, who has been appointed as inquiry officer for probing the killing of a youth by army in Trehgam village of Kupwara district on July 11 this month, has asked any witnesses to record their statements before him from 25 August to 2 August.
District Magistrate Kupwara Khalid Jahangir had appointed additional district magistrate Handwara, Pirzada Muzaffar Ahmad as an inquiry officer to probe into the killing of Khalid Ahmad Malik of Trehgam Kupwara.
The probe officer has urged the witnesses to record their statements before him at DC Office Kupwara from July 25 to 2 August, 2018 during office hours.
The inquiry officer has been asked to submit a detailed inquiry report within one month. The district magistrate has said that an FIR has already been registered against the army party under section 307 involved in the killing. He said people should come without any pressure and record their statements so that the final report is submitted to government.
Inquiry officer Muzafer Ahmad told Kashmir Reader he would also will visit the village and home of slain on July 26, as some people may record their statement on spot. “I am going to talk to his family and other people also on spot,” Muzafer said.
On July 11, 19-year-old Khalid Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Gafar Malik of Trehgam was shot dead by an army party when some youths hurled stones to them.
