Manshoor Banhali’s Kashmiri poetic compilation released

SRINAGAR: J&K Cultural Academy on Tuesday released a poetic compilation ‘Yath Waave Haalay Tchong Kkus Zaalay’ of renowned poet Manshoor Banhali from Chenab Valley.
In this connection, a function was organised at the JKAACL headquarters Lal Mandi here which was presided over by Prof Margoob Banhali. Prof Shafi Shoq, Prof Shad Ramzan, Ghulam Nabi Aatash, and Secretary JKAACL Dr Aziz Hajani were present on the occasion.
Welcoming the guests, Secretary JKAACL Dr Aziz Hajani described Manshoor Banhali as “a poet of substance who has contributed a lot to modern Kashmiri poetry”. “It is endeavour of the academy to release this poetic compilation,” he said.
Prof Shad Ramzan and Ghulam Nabi Aatash presented introductory papers on the poetic compilation and described it as “an addition to modern Kashmiri poetry”. Aatash specially praised Manshhoor Banhali for his “gigantic work” in the shape of poetic compilation. Prof Shafi Shoq described Manshoor Banhali as “a poet of new sensibilities who has contributed immensely to Kashmiri language and literature”.
Prof Margoob Banhali in his presidential address congratulated the cultural academy and Manshoor Banhali for organising the function. “Manshoor has introduced some new genres to Kashmiri poetry which include Sei Harfi and Maahiya etc.,” he said.
