Farmers must adapt amid globally changing agriculture scenario: Dir Agri Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir on Tuesday impressed upon agriculture officers that amid fluctuating weather the concerned officers and crop experts must visit the fields and advise farmers with respect to different preventive measures and modifications in the cultural practices.
“Proper instructions and advisories must be issued to the farmers as per the local requirements and all the efforts must be put in, in case they receive complaint of any disease or pest outbreak so that it could be checked well in time,” he said.
He further said that global change in weather dynamics was making visible impact on agriculture scenario in Kashmir and since, weather parameters were globally changing so were the agriculture operations and strategies, “therefore, in order to get the maximum out of this sector and to be relevant with the market demands and trends at national and international level, agriculture has to be adopted on modern and scientific lines, farmers must acclimatise themselves with the change,” an official handout read.
Andrabi was speaking at a high level meeting on the changing weather scenario in Kashmir division with the officers of the department here at Lalmandi on Tuesday.
He called upon the officers to adopt proactive approach in reaching out to farmers to ensure speedy deliverance of technical guidance and moral support.
Andrabi passed on strict orders for time bound redress of farmer’s grievances and fixing responsibilities of concerned officers to avoid delay in execution of different schemes and programmes on merit to achieve the targets.
