Anantnag gunfight: Slain militant laid to rest, militants offer gun salute

Srinagar: Militant Bilal Ahmad Dar, who was killed in a gunfight with government forces at Anantnag was Wednesday laid to rest amid intense sloganeering after thousands of people participated in his funeral prayers in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Three rounds of funeral prayers were held for the slain militant to accommodate people who had gathered in large numbers in Khudwani village, witnesses said.

Funeral of the slain was lead by his father, Mohammad Yousuf Dar, they said.

Witnesses said that some militants appeared at the funeral of slain militant and offered a gun salute to their slain associate.

Later Bilal was laid to rest amid sloganeering, sobs and with wet eyes.

Earlier Bilal was killed along with his associate during a gunfight with the government forces in Mehmaan mohalla area of Lalchowk in Anantnag.
