PULWAMA: In a video that went viral on social media, a family from Pulwama district has appealed to its son to leave militancy and return home.
The family of the youth said they came to know through social media that their son had become a militant.
The appeal was made by mother and sister of Showkat Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad, who hails from Pulwama’s Murran village. Sajad has been missing from last few days and was seen in a photo which went viral on social media. Sajad is seen holding two AK47 rifles in the picture that went viral on Thursday.
“Don’t leave us like this,” the mother of Sajad appealed her son in a video that went viral on social media on Saturday evening. His sister also appealed Sajad to return home.
Before joining militancy, Sajad was running a bakery shop, reports said.
Meanwhile, SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary said: “Showkat went missing on July 16 immediately after attack on the NC leader Ghulam Mohidin Mir at Murran village in which a policeman, Mudasir Ahmad Bhat of Harwan Srinagar, was killed and another policeman was injured.”
SSP confirmed to Kashmir Reader that Showkat’s picture holding two AK-47 rifles went viral on social networking websites on Thursday.
“Sajad’s motorcycle was seized by forces on Wednesday from his home after his involvement in the attack had become evident as he was present at the place of attack,” he said.
“He (Sajad) had honked the horn of his bike when Mir’s car had arrived, sending a signal to the militants,” the SSP said, adding that Showkat’s involvement in the attack had been established.
