Explosives found in militant’s home at Pampore, brother arrested

PAMPORE: Police arrested the brother of an Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind militant from his home at Samboora village of Pamporeon Sunday after finding explosives at the house in a night raid.
Acting on specific information, the army’s 50 RR and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Pampore police raided the house of active militant of Shabir Ahmad Dar alias Shabir Mali on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in Samboora. A search of the house led to recovery of some explosives, safety fuse, detonator and wire, which were meant to create an IED (Improvised Explosive Device), a senior police officer told Kashmir Reader.
He said that Shabir Ahmad Dar is an active militant of the Zakir Musa-led Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
“This IED was planned to be placed on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway between Lethapore and Lasjan new bypass during movement of the Yatra Convoy,” the police officer said.
He said that Shabir Ahmad Dar was suspected to be guiding his own brother, Irfan Ahmad Dar, in the task of placing the IED on the highway.
He further said that Dar’s brother Irfan Ahmad had been taken into custody and a case, FIR No 71/2018, under Section 3/5 of the Explosive Substances Act, had been registered at Police Station Pampore against him.
