Jammu: Vigilance Organization Jammu on Saturday produced challan against ten officials of Rural Development department (RDD) in misappropriation of funds in block Marwah district Kishtwar, under various centrally sponsored schemes during the year 2012-13.
According to the statement, those booked includes Romesh Kumar Sharma then XEN REW Kishtwar (now retired), Krishan Chand Sharma then BDO Marwah (now retired), Rama Kant Sharma then AEE REW Marwah, Tariq Hussain Kichloo then Tech. Assistant RDD Block Marwah, Abdul Rashid Shah then JE RDD Block Marwah, Shagufta Riaz then VLW RDD Block Marwah, Mohd Abass Lone then work Supervisor Block Marwah, Dilshad Ahmed then MPW block Marwah, Abdul Fatha Malik then VLW, RDD Block Marwah and Gh.Rasool Lone then VLW Block Marwah.
VO said that the case was registered in Police station Vigilance Organization Jammu on the basis of a complaint regarding committing of huge bungling / misappropriation of funds in execution of various developmental works by RDD department in block Marwah District Kishtwar, under various centrally sponsored Schemes during the year 2012-13.
“A joint Surprise check (JSC) was conducted by the Vigilance sleuths. During the course of JSC and investigation 19 works were inspected in association with officers / officials of RDD department Marwah. During the course of JSC / Investigation, it was established that in 16 number of works the accused officers / officials had caused a loss of Rs.15,55,206/- to the state exchequer on account of inflated measurements recorded in the measurement books and loss to the tune of Rs.99,998/- to the state exchequer on account of one un-executed work,” they said.
“A cumulative loss of Rs.16,55,206/- has been caused to the state exchequer and corresponding undue benefits to themselves. After completion of the investigation, the case was processed for obtaining necessary government sanction. After obtaining the sanction from the competent authority the Challan of the case has been produced against the aforementioned accused persons for judicial determination. Next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for 30 August,” VO said.
