SRINAGAR: The administration of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has closed a complaint regarding PhD entrance paper leak as ‘hoax’.
Director SKIMS, Dr Omar Javed Shah told Kashmir Reader that nothing concrete has come-up after the inquiry into the paper leak grievance as the complainant didn’t appear before the authorities.
“We had asked the complainant to come up with the timeline and evidence of his claims. But, he didn’t turn up to explain his allegations,” he said.
He said the complaint had been considered as a fake, which turned out to be a ‘hoax’ so far.
“The issue needed remedial measures which we have already taken. No action against anyone is required in this because nothing wrong has happened in reality,” Dr Shah said.
Registrar SKIMS Soura, Dr Parvaiz A Koul said the question paper for the PhD entrance exam was changed despite no veracity found in the complaint.
He said the complainant didn’t appear in person before them but that he received a complaint through email, a day before the scheduled exam, stating that PhD entrance paper has been leaked.
“Now, when we approached the sender to approach us with the evidence he is not showing up rather claiming that he is facing life threat. In such circumstances, we are not taking this case further as we didn’t find any paper leak,” Dr Koul said.
The complaint said that the question papers for entrance exam of PhD immunology, biochemistry and microbiology to be held on 17 July had been leaked.
However, authorities cancelled the set question paper and prepared a fresh one for the exam.
“We didn’t want to take any chance. Paper change is always an easy-way-out to solve the issue emerging from the fake scare,” the Registrar said.
