Srinagar: A protest was held on Saturday here by Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Welfare Association and Senior Citizens Civil Society demanding release of sixth pay commission.
The retired employees of State Transport Corporation raised slogans against the state administration for failing to address their issues.
The pensioners claimed that in an order regarding the allotment of 15 crore rupees as six pay commission for pensioners, the department has only issued one crore.
“We are made to move from pillar to post by each branch of the state transport department, despite the issuance from the government, there is a big gap of fourteen corer rupees as only one corer was utilized on pensioners,” said Abdul Quyoom, 75, provincial president Pensioners Welfare Association.
The protesters alleged that the state administration is playing hide and seek with them at this old age. “We all have crossed the age of 70 still the department is fooling us,” said a pensioner at his 80’s. “We have served the Transport department with honesty now the same department is failing us at this age,” he added.
Another pensioner Abdul Rasheed said that the department is not heeding to their problems. “The finance department refer us to transport department and same by the transport department,” he said.
