Seminar own ‘Research Ethics and Career Counselling’ concludes at SKUAST-K

SRINAGAR: Two days seminar on “Research Practices and applications in Biological Sciences: where we stand?” concluded at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K, Shuhama on Friday.
According to a statement issued here, the seminar was organised by the Division of Animal Biotechnology and sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, MoST, GoI under HRD-Program, and aimed at generating awareness amongst PhD research scholars of various state universities about ethical research practices including applied, environment friendly and patent oriented research.
During the two days, several sessions comprising lectures by the faculty and group discussions between the participants were held.
Expert lectures on patent oriented and environment friendly research practices were delivered by Dr Ummer R Zargar, CUK, Srinagar and Dr Khalid Masoodi, Division of Plant Biotechnology, SKUAST-K.
Dr Naseer Kutchy discussed about scientific misconduct and its implications. The concluding lecture on scientific publications/proposal writing was delivered by Dr. Nazir A. Ganai, Director Planning, SKUAST-K.
On the side-lines of the seminar, a counselling session was conducted wherein Dr Naseer Kutchy discussed the higher education and placement opportunities for graduates and post graduates outside the country. Dr Azmat Alam Khan, Coordinator, Career counselling and placement centre coordinated the event.
Prof Shakil Wani, Director Education, SKUAST-K on the valedictory session stressed on adopting critical thinking during research endeavours and praised the organisers for conducting seminar on such topics and urged other departments to conduct such seminars at regular intervals.
