Budgam: The farmers of central Kashmir’s Budgam district whose land will be acquired for construction of semi-ring road Saturday staged a peaceful protest demonstration outside the DC office demanding fair compensation.

The aggrieved land owners from various areas of Budgam assembled outside the office of DC under the banner of “semi-ring road land owner’s welfare committee”.

Chanting slogans to press their demands the protestors threatened of hunger strike if they are not paid adequate compensation.

The aggrieved land owners expressed dismay that a particular law is not applicable on the state which deprives them of suitable compensation of their land.

“Right to Fair Compensation under Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act ( 2013) enacted by government of India in 2013 is not applicable in our state,” said Jalal Ahmad a land owner of Budgam.

The landowners presented a memorandum to the deputy commissioners Budgam and held a peaceful demonstration outside her office.

Pertinently an alternate link road is coming up connecting outer Pampore highway with Manigam – Ganderbal via Wathoora Chadoora-Budgam , Soibugh and Narbal, Sumbal , Lar and Ganderbal named as semi ring road project.
