Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said that it is ready to go to polls as and when the Election Commission of India issues the notification.
State head of the party, Ravinder Raina, told Kashmir Reader that the BJP has formed a consensus on the issue of elections and the cadre was ready to face polls anytime.
“We are fully prepared for elections. Be they municipal elections, panchayat elections, Parliament elections, or for that matter, state assembly elections,” he said.
Raina said that the BJP has already started its campaign in the Chenab valley districts of Rajouri and Poonch. “We have already started the campaigning. I am touring the Chenab valley after which I will head to Jammu and Udhampur,” he said.
To a question about campaigning in Kashmir, he said that the party will first complete campaigning in Jammu and then start the same in Kashmir.
“We will start from Srinagar,” Raina said.
Earlier, the BJP had stated that they will start their campaigning for panchayat polls from south Kashmir.
Raina said that the restoration of democratic institutions was inevitable in the state. He said elections were necessary because people were suffering in absence of basic facilities.
