SRINAGAR: Amid increasing sensitivity among the consumers with respect to different residual chemicals and other molecular compositions of the crop grains like cereals, pulses, vegetables, oilseeds, etc. at India and global level, the role and importance of quality control lab infrastructure has increased manifold over the years, said Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi during an extensive visit to quality control lab infrastructure of the department here at Lalmandi.
He said with the addition of real time technologies, equipments and machinery, different purity, quality and hygiene parameters are nowadays easily determined and analysed, therefore, the modern lab infrastructure has a key role in promoting the market value of different agri-commodities and products, an official handout read.
Andrabi visited different sections of Pesticide Quality Control Lab, Fertiliser Quality Control Lab and Bio-Fertiliser Quality Control Lab. While interacting with the concerned officers and technical staff, he highlighted the need to strengthen the lab infrastructure of the department. He directed the concerned officers to make the DPRs in consonance with the latest equipments, gadgets and machinery so that all the labs could be upgraded.
Agriculture Chemist Kashmir, Tabasum Naaz presented a detailed blueprint of different available facilities, and the equipments and machineries the different labs were in need of. She also described different procedures performed by different labs for the promotion of quality control in fertiliser, bio-fertilisers and pesticide sector. She stressed the need for some engineering modifications in the basic designing of the labs to meet out different requirements, the handout added.
