Bandipora: Patients heaved a sigh of relief as the doctors at district hospital in north Kashmir’s Bandipora resumed performing laparoscopic surgeries after a gap of three long years.
The team which performed the surgery said it resumed the operations at the hospital after 3 years by performing a successful surgery on a 30-year-old patient.
Under the supervision and logistic support of Dr Ishfaq, the surgical unit of the hospital performed laparoscopic cholecystectomy on a 30-year-old patient, an official said.
Laparoscopy, also known as diagnostic laparoscopy, is a surgical diagnostic procedure used to examine organs inside of the abdomen with the aid of a camera. It requires only small incisions and is low risk, minimally invasive procedure. It uses an instrument called laparoscopy to look into the abdominal organs
“Now we don’t have to travel a long distance to hospitals in Srinagar or Baramulla in search of appointments and dates for surgery, which prolonged the diagnosis,” an attendant said.
