Baramulla: Hundreds of people on Wednesday participated in the funeral prayers of a prominent pro-freedom activist, who died at the Government Medical College Jammu a day after being shifted to the hospital from Kot Balwal Jail.
Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that since early morning, hundreds of people turned up at Gulistan village of Narvaw here to have last glimpse of popular militant of the ’90s and an active pro-freedom activist Gulam Hasan Malik alias Noor Khan, who died at GMC Jammu on Tuesday.
Khan’s body reached the village around 7:00 am today, witnesses said.
Hundreds of people attended his funeral prayers before he was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Pehlipora, they added.
Pertinently, Khan was imprisoned under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) since January 27 this year and instantly shifted to Kot Balwal Jail in Jammu.
Gulam Hasan fell ill a few days ago while in Kot Balwal Jail. On Monday, he complained of serious pain in his chest, family sources said. The jail authorities shifted him to GMC Jammu on Monday evening. He breathed his last there today afternoon at about 3:00 pm.
