JAMMU: A meeting of district presidents, district secretaries and other office bearers of Scheduled Caste Cell National Conference of Jammu province was held on Tuesday at Sher- I-Kashmir Bhawan, here under the chairmanship of Cell’s co- chairman Vijay Lochan.
A statement issued here said a threadbare discussion was held on agenda points regarding latest political scenario and other important issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Lochan said, “It is apparent from the policies of BJP that they have great lust of power. On one side, the workers of BJP in Jammu are burning the effigy of former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and on the other side, BJP high command instructed Sajjad Lone for horse trading who is leading the group of PDP MLAs who have revolted from PDP state president Mehbooba Mufti. The BJP is still in hope to form government in J&K state after Amarnath yatra.”
NC slammed the previous PDP-BJP coalition for “ignoring the weaker sections of society and failing to protect the interests of the scheduled caste population of the state”.
On the occasion, State Secretary Rattan Lal Gupta urged the Governor’s administration to look into the problems faced by this segment of the society and ensure implementation of various constitutional guarantees to theme
He regretted that “the insensitive dispensation led by Mehbooba Mufti in the state had totally failed in governance, as a result of which welfare programmes for these communities were hugely been impacted”.
Ex-MLC Kashmira Singh referred to the “initiatives taken by National Conference government from time to time in ameliorating lot of weaker sections and opening vistas of opportunities for them in decision making”.
