Kashmir issue poses a threat to world peace: Hurriyat

SRINAGAR: Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference on Monday said that Kashmir issue poses a threat to world peace and asked UNO and international community to take measures for the resolution of the dispute.
Welcoming the statement of Pakistan special envoy Sartaj Aziz, a Hurriyat spokesperson said that UNO had a great role to play in creating a conducive atmosphere and they should impress India to shun its “stubborn” attitude and accept ground reality regarding the long pending Kashmir issue.
He said the prevailing confrontation and tense situations between India and Pakistan is a war-like. He said Kashmir issue poses a threat to world peace and is proving to be a big obstacle for peace, prosperity and development in the region.
Terming the statement of Sartaj Aziz as encouraging, the spokesperson said, “War and inconsistencies are no options, instead they cause devastation and destruction. Both India and Pakistan are nuclear countries and any flare-up can prove extremely detrimental.”
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat spokesperson has expressed deep shock and grief over the death of nine people in a tragic incident in Reasi.
