BARAMULLA: Commander 15 Corps General AK Bhat on Saturday appealed to Kashmiri parents to ask their children to not pick up guns against the army. Gen Bhat said this while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Baramulla.
Gen Bhat said that Friday’s attack on a CRPF party at Achabal Anantnag was not targeted against the Amarnath Yatra because the area was not on the Yatra route. He said that militants will continue targeting government forces at places where they apprehend any action from the army, paramilitary or police. Gen Bhat said that the army will continue its operations against militants till militancy is wiped out from Kashmir.
Replying to a question about youth joining militancy in north Kashmir, he said that such a trend is much less than in south Kashmir.
“I appeal to parents of youth to persuade their children to live a normal life and to advise them to not take to the violent path or pick up arms. The army wants youth to prosper and live a dignified life,” Gen Bhat said.
