Srinagar: Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge High Court of J&K in presence of Justice M K Hanjura, Judge High Court of J&K Saturday inaugurated National Lok Adalat Sessions in ADR Centre, High Court Complex, Srinagar.
Both the Judges impressed upon the parties present to go for amicable settlement through negotiations and conciliation instead of resorting to adversarial litigation.
On this occasion six benches had been constituted for taking different types of cases.
Principal District Judge Srinagar assisted by Presiding Officer Motor Accident claims Tribunal Srinagar had taken up 34 cases out of which 21 cases amicably settled and an amount of Rs. 1, 13, 10,000/- was granted as compensation on this occasion.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice M. K. Hanjura presented the cheques to four claimants on spot.
Presiding Officer District Consumer Protection Forum Srinagar assisted by Farah Deeba Advocate Member had taken up 32 cases out of which 9 cases were amicably settled and compensation to the tune of Rs. 4,63,925/- was granted.
Additional District Judge Bank Cases Srinagar assisted by 3rd Additional District Judge, Srinagar had taken up as many as 120 cases with compromise pre-litigation cases out of which 16 cases were amicably settled.
Additional District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar assisted by 2nd Additional Munsiff Srinagar had taken up 30 cases, out of which 12 cases were amicably settled.
Forest Magistrate Srinagar assisted by Municipal Magistrate Srinagar had taken up 50 cases, out of which 27 cases were amicably settled.
Additional Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Srinagar assisted by 3rd Additional Munsif Srinagar had taken up 1100 cases out of which 993 cases were amicably settled and fine of an amount of Rs. 2, 02,350/- was recovered.
