First batch of pilgrims leaves for hajj

SRINAGAR: Governor N.N. Vohra flagged off the first flight of 340 Hajis for Madinah Munawwarah which left from the Srinagar International Airport on Saturday.
Governor interacted with a number of Hajis and wished them a safe journey and a highly satisfying Haj.
According to a spokesman of the State Hajj Committee, a total of 800 Haj pilgrims embarked for pilgrimage Saturday which included 430 male and 370 female through four flights. 340 pilgrims boarded first flight, 150 each in second and third flights and 160 in fourth flight to Saudi Arabia.
This year 10,292 Hajis (including 518 Hajis who will embark from New Delhi) will be proceeding for Haj. They will travel in daily flights during 14th July – 25th July, embarking from the Srinagar International Airport.
The First flight of 340 included 179 Male and 161 Female Hajis; of whom 203 Hajis were from District Anantnag; 6 from Bandipora; 26 from Baramulla; 20 from Budgam; 6 from Ganderbal; 4 from Kulgam; 6 from Kupwara; 16 from Pulwama; 52 from Srinagar and 1 from Shopian.
