Consultative meet of skill training providers held at Srinagar

Srinagar: A consultative meeting of prospective training providers under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana scheme (State Component) was held here on Saturday.
According to a statement issued here, the meeting, organized by J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM), was held with the aim to provide prospective training providers an in-depth understanding of the process required for registration with the training authorizing departments like J&K Skill Development Mission & National Skill Development Corporation and to understand the issues faced by the training providers in completing the registration formalities.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY) scheme is an outcome based skill training program of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.
“J&K Skill Development Mission has done pretty well in terms of registering training providers and for the current year, the state J&K has the best status in terms of registration of training providers across the country,” said Arka Nandy, NSDC representative.
A presentation was made to clarify some of the queries raised by the prospective training providers pertaining to the PMKVY scheme.
The training providers were also apprised about the current process of starting the PMKVY training. The deadline of July 20, 2018 has been kept for the training providers to complete all the registration formalities, failing which they will not be provided training targets for the current year.
“Our aim is to develop the core competencies of the skill training institutions and establish such institutions as centers of excellence which will contribute in the overall development of the youth of J&K,” JKSDM official said.
“The meeting was quite fruitful as it cleared most of our queries related to the registration of our organization with the training authorities through which we can successfully start the implementation of skill development programs in J&K,” said Gagan Sharma, proprietor of a Jammu based training institution.
Discussions were also held on how to provide quality skilling and employment opportunities to the youth of J&K. It is pertinent to mention that the state of J&K has established J&K Skill Development Mission to provide placement linked skill training under PMKVY (State Component) to the youth of J&K.
