Shutdown continues in Trehgam against youth’s killing

Srinagar: Shutdown continued in Trehgam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday against the killing of a local youth in army firing.

All shops and other business centres remained closed while as public and private transport also remained off the roads. However there were no restrictions or forces deployments in the area.

Reports from the district headquarter Kupwara said people resumed their routine life today.

Khalid Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Gafar Malik, a resident of Trehgam was killed after army soldiers resorted to firing to disperse a few stone pelting youth on Wednesday last.

Authorities have announced a probe into the killing of Khalid.

Meanwhile, low speed internet services (2G) were restored in Kupwara district today.
