Low voltage in Uri villages irks residents

Baramulla: Over a dozen villages in border town Uri have decried failure of Power Development Department (PDD) to increase the electric voltage in the area.
Locals said that they are suffering due to low voltage problem. “Most of the electrical equipment doesn’t function in low voltage and even bulbs fail to illuminate,” they said.
They added that the student community is most affected due to the callousness of the PDD department to install required equipment’s for increasing electricity voltage.
The areas that are facing low voltage problem include Mohra, Dawaran, Paranpillan, Chollan, Dani, Bandi, Lagama and others.
A local PDD official said that a 2.5 MVA transformer installed at Mohra grid station got a technical snag on the second Eid and yet to be repaired.
