TANGMARG: Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department in collaboration with Regional Office Bandipora under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural conducted ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’, a GoI campaign, in the remote villages of Katipora and Chandiwanigam under the branch office – Tangmarg and Chandilora.
Deputy Secretary DFS, A K Dogra who was the chief guest on the occasion said that Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan Phase 2 started from 1 June 2018 to 15 August 2018 conducting in 187 villages of Regional Office Baramulla and Kupwara adding that in 42 days the bank registered 8699 enrollments under the GoI Social Security Schemes viz., PMJDY, PMJJBY and PMSBY and APY.
Highlighting the role of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, a GoI programme for covering the poor population in the villages of districts Baramulla and Kupwara, he advised all the braches to enroll more and more persons under the social security schemes “so that the poor and unreachable population may also get the benefits of these schemes”. He also advised the bank staff for door-to-door banking under this campaign so that everyone should get benefited, an official handout read.
Senior Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion Department JKGB, Vipan Gupta said “the ongoing campaign is in a mission mode and is aimed to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, spreading awareness about government welfare schemes, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize national priorities including cleanliness and strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions”.
He advised all the branch heads of Baramulla and Kupwara region to open the accounts of unbanked population of backward areas of these given 187 villages under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana (PMSBY). He advised all branches to “attain 100% saturation under social security schemes in these 187 villages given by DFS”.
LDM Baramulla, Altaf Ahmed Wani reviewed Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, an initiative for reaching out to the poor households, in villages of districts Baramulla and Kupwara. The programme focused on maximum enrolment of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). He appreciated the efforts of the bank towards social security schemes and applauded that the bank is making extraordinary efforts to make the programme of social security schemes a big success. He educated participants about these schemes and requested them to enroll under these social security schemes, read the handout.
Regional Manager Bandipora, Altaf Hussain Sedique said “the programme mainly focuses on enrolling more and more individuals under these social security schemes”.
Around 350 people attendant the camps and at least 300 enrolments was done during the programme, read the handout.
Technological innovations in banking industry including NEFT/RTGS, Online Banking, IMPS, SMS Banking, RuPay Card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System and Direct Benefit Transfer, etc. to promote the digital banking and to move towards less-cash economy were also highlighted during the programme.
Branch Head Tangmarg Abdul Rashid Magrey with B C Nissar Ahmed and Latif Ahmed underlined the use of social security schemes i.e., PMJDY, PMJJBY & PMSBY. They educated people about various lending schemes tailored by the bank for general public available on easy EMIs i.e., Housing Loan, Transport Loan, Car Loan, Education Loan, etc., where rate of interest charged by the bank is very competitive, the handout read.
RuPay debit cards were also distributed to customers on the occasion.
