Srinagar: Kupwara and Baramulla District have been selected for the ‘Aspirational Districts Programme’ of NITI Aayog which was launched by Prime Minister of India in January 2018.
According to a statement issued here, the ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme aims to quickly and effectively transform these districts.
“This program focuses on the strength of each district, identify low-hanging fruits for immediate improvement, measure progress, and rank districts. The various factors which are taken into consideration for the districts are developmental factors, health care facilities, road connectivity, rural development and Education facilities,” it said.
In the education sector, the statement said, various factors which are taken into consideration are toilet facilities, drinking water facilities, compound walling, teacher student ratio, learning outcomes and enrolment of students in the schools.
To take stock of the progress in this regard, Secretary School Education Rigzian Samphil on Thursday called a meeting in his office chambers at Civil Secretariat Srinagar.
He impressed upon all the officers to take necessary steps to improve the ranking of these districts and work for the development of education sector.
He directed the concerned officers to work tirelessly for the improvement of education scenario in Baramulla and Kupwara districts.
He said that we should take this opportunity to improve the education sector in these districts.
Secretary sought details from the Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo regarding the Education scenario in these Districts. He said that we should identify all the shortcomings in the schools and make every possible effort to rectify them. He was also briefed about the implementation of various schemes in these Districts and directed concerned officers to make sure the effective implementation of these schemes.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary School Education, Director School Education Kashmir, Director School Education Jammu, Director Samagrah Shiksha, Director Planning, FA/CAO School Education and other senior officers.
