Srinagar: Khalid Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Gafar Malik of Bun Pora Trehgam, who was killed in army firing last evening in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, was laid to rest amid high pitched sloganeering in his ancestral graveyard on Thursday.

Earlier thousands of people somehow managed to reach the Jinaza Gah amid restrictions and attended his funeral prayers. They raised anti-India and anti-army slogans, witnesses said.

An army party had opened fire along the Kupwara-Chowkibal road area last evening after few stones were hurled at them resulting in the killing of Khalid.
