SRINAGAR: Police has extended the remand of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik up to July 13, a party spokesperson said on Wednesday. He said Malik was arrested July 6 and is lodged at police station Kothi Bagh.
In a statement, the spokesperson condemned the prolonging of Malik’s detention saying caging political leaders and activists and barring them from performing their political activities is nothing but an anti-democratic act.
Meanwhile, JKLF chairman has expressed heartfelt grief over the death of a 12-year-old boy at Memander Shopian who was killed in a mysterious blast on Wednesday.
Malik said on daily basis, Kashmiris are forced to shoulder the coffins of their dear ones as “illegal occupation and military suppression continues to haunt them”.
“The pain of yesterday’s martyrs is still fresh when a new catastrophe has hit us, snatching one more life and injuring half a dozen more among whom many are critical,” he said and prayed for heavenly abode of the deceased child and early recovery of those injured in the mysterious blast.
Meanwhile, JKLF has expressed grief over the demise of Gulam Ud Din Dar, father of JKLF martyr Muhammad Sultan Dar of Sopore. A party delegation visited the residence of the deceased and prayed for his heavenly abode.
