‘Our children unsafe even while playing’

SRINAGAR: Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed shock and grief over the death of a 12-year-old kid Saliq Khursheed of Meemander Shopian and grave injuries to three other children following an explosive material that went off suddenly.
In a statement, Mirwaiz said, “Conflict claims one more life this time of a little child. Our children are not safe even while playing.”
He said with each passing day, Kashmiris pay the cost of the lingering conflict as the world looks on and there is little effort to put an end to the tragedy that Kashmir has become.
He said that the unending pain inflicted on the Kashmiri people was only because of the fact that people demand their birth right. “It is high time for New Delhi to accept the ground realities and resolve the vexed issue of Kashmir as per the aspirations of people,” he said.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the amalgam while condemning the continuous house arrest of conglomerate chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said that after being released for just a day after almost a week-long house detention, Mirwaiz was once again placed under house arrest.
He denounced the continuous detention of Syed Ali Geelani, arrest of JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and dozens of resistance leaders across Kashmir terming it as “political vendetta and frustration” on part of authorities.
“These oppressive measures can’t break the resolve of resistance leadership and the people of Kashmir who are committed towards the final goal of achieving right to self determination,” he said.
“It was unfortunate and concerning that in the first six months of the current year, 60 innocent civilians were killed in the government forces’ action which indicates that ten civilian were killed on an average each month and hundreds of people who were peacefully protesting were showered with live bullets and deadly pellets leaving dozens of them with grave eye injuries and bone fractures.”
“The martyrs of Kashmir who are sacrificing their lives for a great cause deserve a salute and rich tributes,” the spokesperson said. “The people and the leadership are duty bound to take the mission of martyrs to its logical end.”

Why do not you move to Pakistan? Pakistan was created for Muslim. When Kashmir was got divided in 1948, then all the Hindus and Sikhs moved to India but Muslim living in Kashmir did not go to Pakistan. All we hear and read is few districts in southern Kashmir having islamic revolt. Sooner or Later, some General or a PM will say it.. either move to Pakistan or like in 1947, Army will take you to border. So far it has not happened because Muslim in Kashmir give India $50billion defense budget and that soon in few years will $100 Billion. So keep up your good world. The world knows that any change in territorial status of few districts will make whole India a MUSLIM FREE country which it should have been in 1947. Can your beloved Pakistan feed and hist 200 million non punjabi speaking Muslim? At least Miswaiz is having fun and Bityani every day. Why Mirwaiz is not in Tihar Jail.. shows how non serious or casual is Indian Government.
