SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Wednesday organised a function to pay tributes to prolific writer, poet and calligraphist Fazil Kashmiri on his 14th Death Anniversary.
According to a statement issued here, the function was attended by prominent writers, artists and people belonging from different walks of life.
The function was presided over by Prof Farooq Fayaz, while Rafiq Raz, Secretary JKAACL Dr Aziz Hajini and son of Late Fazil Kashmiri Zeshan Fazil were also present on the occasion.
In his welcome address, Secretary JKAACL described Fazil Kashmiri a legend who has contributed a lot to Kashmiri language and Literature.
Rafiq Raz presented his paper “Kashmiri Culture in the Poetry of Fazil Kashmiri” which was applauded by the audience.
Fazil Memorial awards were presented by Fazil Memorial Committee in favour of Sultan-ul-Haq Shaheedi, Gh Nabi Aatash and Dr Nazir Azad.
A literary Megazine “BAYAD-i-FAZIL” was also released on the occasion.
Prof Farooq Fayaz in his presidential address congratulated the academy for organizing such useful function and desired to work more seriously on various literary aspects of Fazil Kashmiri.
Others who were present on the occasion include Abdal Mehjoor, Gh Nabi Noorani, Gh Rasool Azad, Shabir Mujahid, G R Hasrat Gada, Sultan ul Haq Shaheedi, Riyaz ul Ameen, Aejaz Ahmad Kakroo, Reyan Fazil, Dr Hasrat Hussain, Mufti Riyaz, Nisar Bala, Dildar Ashraf Shah, Sunaullah Mashgool, Mohd Ashraf Tak, Farhat Lone, Dr Shahnawaz, Jawaid Iqbal Khan, Dr Syed Iftikhar, Dr Gulzar Ahmad, Maqbool Sajid, Jameel Ansari, Gulab Saifi.
